About Olivia
I’m Olivia Utterback, a high school student at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. I’m passionate about inspiring others to cook healthy, homemade meals using whole, nourishing ingredients.
My love for cooking started on a random quiet and boring day with friends. We were looking for a fun way to hang out and try something new, so we started experimenting in the kitchen. That first spark turned into a passion.
Now, cooking is where I feel most creative and free. I don’t follow strict rules, I blend many unexpected flavors, plate meals with instinct, and embrace the happy accidents that come with trying something new.
I’ve always struggled with perfectionism, but cooking reminds me it’s okay to mess up. A burnt edge or a forgotten garnish doesn’t ruin a meal, and sometimes, it even makes it better.
As a student journalist, I love writing about the food I create. Sharing recipes and stories from the kitchen brings together two of my favorite things, food and storytelling.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking for fresh inspiration, I hope my recipes encourage you to get in the kitchen, try something new, and enjoy the process, mistakes and all.
